Long term aid/ developmental aid |
Sustainable aid that improves a country’s ability to cope with everyday life and emergencies. This can be something like a well to minimise the effects of future droughts. |
Bilateral aid |
Aid from one country to another country. |
Multilateral aid |
Richer governments give money to an organisation such as the World Bank which then redistributes the money to LICs. |
Tied aid |
Aid given with certain conditions such as the LIC has to spend the aid on the donor country’s products. |
Voluntary aid |
Money donated by the general public in HICs and distributed by NGOs. |
Aid can come in many forms such as:

- Food e.g. rice
- Technology e.g. machinery
- Skills e.g. doctors
