This is also known as peblic transport. It helps to move sediment along the coastline. This process is key in understanding how hard management techniques work (such as groynes).
Deposition
Coastal deposition happens where the flow of water slows down (lack of energy). Waves lose energy in sheltered bays and where water is protected by spits or bars. For example, beaches are found in bays where the energy is reduced due to wave refraction (as seen in the diagram)
