This is a way of reducing a country's carbon foot print as the CO2 produced is much lower than fossil fuels.
The are expensive to build, however the cost of uranium is relatively low because only small amounts are needed. The main issue is disposal of radioactive waste as it can be dangerous for over 100 years. There is considerable opposition due to the Chernobyl disaster or the near miss of a disaster in Fukushima in 2011 |
